Residency and destinationConfirm the policy is available to residents of your home country and covers every destination and transit point.Is the race the main reason for the trip?Check whether travelling mainly to race changes the cover.Taking part in an organised raceCheck that timed amateur races are covered, not just running for fun.Distance and event formatConfirm your exact distance, including ultra, multi-day, obstacle or triathlon participation.Terrain, altitude and remote routesCheck whether your route is allowed and who pays if you need rescue or transport.Medical treatment and getting homeCheck the limits, what is not covered, the excess and how to contact emergency help. Getting you home is often called repatriation.Pre-existing conditions and current injuriesFollow the provider’s declaration process and ask if anything is unclear.Cancelling or cutting the trip shortCheck which reasons are covered and which prepaid costs you could claim back.Race entry feesCheck whether entry fees are included, under what circumstances, and under which limit.Equipment and valuablesReview item limits, unattended-property exclusions and whether a watch or specialist kit needs separate cover.

Important: ticking every box does not mean you are covered. Save the policy you bought and ask the provider about anything unclear.
